My Favorite Days: Poetry Writing Lesson
I love writing poems that use a little bit of repetition. Adding just a touch of structure into an open-ended topic can help students stay focused as they write and it also adds a powerful element for orally performing the poem.
The topic of this poem, your favorite kind of day, is a topic everyone can relate to. If you have time, use the exemplar to write one about your favorite kind of day or better yet, write it in front of your students and think aloud as you work through the process!
This mini-lesson is now available on TPT. It is a perfect poem to get to know your students at any point in the year and it can easily be used as a virtual learning lesson or an easy, no prep substitute plan :)
