Sensory Memory Poem: A Creative Writing Lesson

The topic of this poem, the sounds and smells that throw us back to a memory, offers students an opportunity to write about a person or place that is special to them. This poetry writing lesson follows the 5 steps of the writing process, includes brainstorm web graphic organizers, suggestions for guiding students who might struggle to get started, and a grammar extension lesson. 

This lesson (now available on TPT) can easily fit in at any point in the school year as it seeks to polish up student writing through the use of creative adjectives, strong adverbs, and specific sensory words and phrases. It can easily be used as a virtual learning lesson or even an easy to follow, no prep plan for a substitute!
